How to Treat Anxiety

What would you say if I told you that within a matter of weeks, you could be totally free of the anxiety caused by the stress of modern living?  The first thing you have to do is forget everything anybody ever taught you about how to treat anxiety.  Instead of reaching for the anti-depressants; follow the techniques in the book instead.

If you invest in this book, you can expect:
·         Simple techniques for fast relief from anxiety and worry.
·         Improvements in your relationships.
·         No hidden or ongoing costs.
·         Increased clarity of mind.
·         More confidence in yourself.
·         Examples of how to cope in stressful situations

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake in the morning, or in the middle of the night, without experiencing that creeping feeling of dread?  It will require a little work on your part, but if the techniques are used persistently the benefits far outweigh the effort.

Just take the first step…
It is common knowledge among philosophers, psychologists, life coaches and so on, that you become what you think about.  Whether you label yourself as a stressed, depressed or confident, calm person, you will be one.  If you think about stress and anxiety a lot, you will get a lot of it in your life.

With that knowledge, the professionals should know how to treat anxiety, but instead they focus your attention on it, and unwittingly perpetuate your habit of thinking of yourself as an anxious or stressed person.  I learned that the first step is to ignore previous advice and refocus what you think about.  It may feel like stress and anxiety dominate your thinking and overwhelm you and are outside of your control but they are absolutely not, and I know you can refocus and break that vicious circle.

The side effects of anxiety
Look through the following list and count how many of these conditions apply to you: overwhelming anxiety or unmanageable stress; feelings of shame; constant conflict with others; excessive anger; excruciating social shyness; guilty feelings; panic attacks; a phobia or phobias of any kind; overeating or undereating; compulsive Behavior or OCD; avoidance behavior such as drinking or taking illegal drugs.

I promise you that anxiety underlies all of them, and believe me, the list could be much longer.  None of these things happen to you overnight; they are the gradual accumulation of layer upon layer of anxiety. If you start to relieve the underlying anxiety, you will start to ease the condition.

I know how to treat anxiety, and I know that when you practice and stick with it, more of those layers start to unpeel.  I know that it's possible and I know that you can do it, because I did.  And if you want to, you can begin to do this today.

A different way
It is clear that today’s treatments aren’t working.  People like you and I are routinely being given antidepressants or expensive therapy and they are not getting better.
“As more and more scientists who study depression and the drugs that treat it are concluding, […] antidepressants are basically expensive Tic Tacs” - Sharon Begley of Newsweek

I know there is a better and easier way.  I am a psychologist and I have spent many years studying the mechanics of the mind.  More recently I have dedicated myself to researching how to treat anxiety and feel better without pills in these modern times.

I immersed myself in all kinds of books, magazines and articles, hoping to find a magic solution or cure that didn’t involve medication – initially only to help me cope with my own stress and anxiety.  Of course, there is no magic solution, but the solution that I found is so simple, straightforward and effective that I knew I had to share it!

No miracle needed

I didn't need to invent something new; the answers were out there already but not in the same place.  I collected them together and summarized them in a book to pass along to you.  I called the book 'Techniques for Tranquility'.  It will help you learn how to focus on peace and tranquility rather than stress and anxiety.  You are what you think about

Important Note: This book is not intended as a replacement for medical advice.  Never stop taking medication unless advised to do so by your physician.

I selected the techniques in the book to use myself.  They come from a variety of sources, from the ancient teachers of philosophy, through to the modern thinkers in psychology.  Perhaps the most powerful part of 'Techniques for Tranquility’ is the part that demonstrates to you that you DO have control over your situations and emotions.  The book explains how you can take back control when the stress starts to get on top of you.
